Dickens of a Christmas
Living Windows

Friday, December 4, 2009
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Historic Downtown Ripon

Living Windows is the highlight of Dickens of a Christmas.  Downtown businesses create live scenes in their windows from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the Friday evening of Dickens of a Christmas.  Past themes have included Victorian, "A Christmas Carol", Fairy Tales, Christmas Carols, and this year's theme is inspired by the artist, Norman Rockwell.  Other activities and highlights Friday evening include a Gingerbread House Contest Display at Farrell's Fine Furnishings, visiting with Santa Claus at Ben Franklin, horse-drawn wagon rides through Historic Downtown Ripon, cocoa, roasted chestnuts and other treats throughout the downtown.  There will be a Soup Kitchen on the 100 block of Watston Street; soup will be available for a donation and all proceeds will support the Ripon Community Thrift Store & Food Pantry. Visitors will also want to make sure they see the Live Nativity Scene, which arrives downtown between 7 and 7:30 p.m.
