Dickens of a Christmas Living Windows Friday, December 4, 2009 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Historic Downtown Ripon
Living Windows is the highlight of Dickens of a Christmas. Downtown businesses create live scenes in their windows from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the Friday evening of Dickens of a Christmas. Past themes have included Victorian, "A Christmas Carol", Fairy Tales, Christmas Carols, and this year's theme is inspired by the artist, Norman Rockwell. Other activities and highlights Friday evening include a Gingerbread House Contest Display at Farrell's Fine Furnishings, visiting with Santa Claus at Ben Franklin, horse-drawn wagon rides through Historic Downtown Ripon, cocoa, roasted chestnuts and other treats throughout the downtown. There will be a Soup Kitchen on the 100 block of Watston Street; soup will be available for a donation and all proceeds will support the Ripon Community Thrift Store & Food Pantry. Visitors will also want to make sure they see the Live Nativity Scene, which arrives downtown between 7 and 7:30 p.m.
