During Dickens of a Christmas, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will host a free viewing of nativity sets from around the world and across the United States that are owned by families and friends of the St. Peter’s parish. The collection includes nativity sets from Italy, Guatemala, and Africa, as well as from around the United States.
The depiction of the nativity scene is one of the oldest and most beloved Christmas traditions.A nativity set is a three-dimensional artistic representation of the birth of Jesus.While most scenes focus on the central figures of the mother Mary and the Christ Child, many depictions also incorporate a number of other earthly and heavenly figures, including shepherds, animals, angels, and wise men.
The nativity set collections will be open to the public for viewing and a bake sale will also take place at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 217 Houston Street on Friday, December 4th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm,and on Saturday, December 5th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.Refreshments will be served.
